How to prepare walls before painting

Good preparation prevents peeling and uneven colour. Follow these steps before any topcoat.

Steps

  1. Inspect and repair

    Fill cracks, remove loose plaster, and fix damp sources before painting.

  2. Clean the surface

    Wash dust, grease, and mildew; allow walls to dry completely.

  3. Sand and dust off

    Lightly sand glossy areas; vacuum or wipe dust.

  4. Prime

    Apply the primer recommended for your substrate and topcoat system.

  5. Apply finish coats

    Apply two uniform finishing coats, respecting drying times.
